Mat and Shari's wedding day started out a little stressful considering it was pouring rain and they were to be married in an outdoor ceremony later on that afternoon. Fortunately, luck was on their side because a rainy morning turned into a lovely October afternoon, with an incredible post-rain sky as the perfect backdrop! Shari said, "Half way to
the ceremony, my sister pointed to the sky in the distance over
Batavia and you could see the clouds parting and the blue sky
appearing! I started to cry as soon as I saw it. It was such a relief.
I knew from that point on, the day would be perfect!! It was and we
got some amazing photos!!! It was a miracle. Seriously, it was!"
Luck seemed to be on the couple's side from the beginning as they had great experiences with all of their vendors. Shari's simple and elegant diamond white silk shantung Mikaella gown was purchased at The Bridal Boutique of Naperville, a salon that sells sample and consignment gowns. It originally featured a bronze colored sash, which she had removed and replaced with an ivory one. Her flowers were created by Westmont Floral, using white Eskimo roses and leftover ribbon from her dress. Her hair stylist, Kelly, and photographer, Joe, are actually husband and wife and worked so well together. Because Kelly was there the whole time helping her husband, she was ready to fix Shari's hair or adjust her train at any given moment, while Joe did whatever it took to get the perfect shot.
The intimate ceremony was held on the picturesque Clark Island in Batavia, Illinois on the Fox River. The old stone structure, along with the walking bridges, on the island provided a unique ceremony location and a great backdrop for photos. The reception was held at Tribella Bar and Grill, also in Batavia. The restaurant was so easy to work with and also provided the cake through The Cakery in North Aurora, Illinois. They were able to incorporate the couples elegant autumn theme using a sugar leaf design, matching their invitations.
Mat and Shari were married October 6, 2009 and currently reside in Chicago's suburbs with their Vizsla dog, Villain.
